Montenegro

General Description

Though almost 80% of people in Montenegro identify as Orthodox Christian, there are only about a hundred Montengrins who truly have a personal relationship with Jesus—of that, only a handful are young people.

Josiah Venture’s presence in Montenegro is all about contact ministry through the local churches—making personal connections with people, intentionally building relationships, and boldly sharing the gospel with those we come into contact with.

Interns play a key role in JV Montenegro because young people here are incredibly open and curious to meet new people and learn about worldviews that are different from theirs—this can lead to many gospel conversations. You will spend your summer getting out in the streets, finding creative ways to connect with young people and share the gospel with them, then connecting them to the local church so they can be discipled in their faith.

Interns in Montenegro should have a strong sense of initiative, as well as patience, flexibility, and dependence on the Lord. These are key qualities in contact ministry because it’s likely that no two days of this internship will be the same! Interns should expect to use Josiah Venture’s online Prayer Room, go out on intentional prayer walks to pray for the movement of God in Montenegro, and be ready to say yes to the opportunities he brings.
