Rachel Berkebile
Rachel’s first experience working with Josiah Venture was in 2011 when she went to the Czech Republic as a part of a short-term team to help lead an English camp. It was after this camp that Rachel began to feel called to missions in Europe. Over the next few years Rachel returned to the Czech Republic several times with other short-term teams and then for a full summer as an intern in 2015. During her internship summer Rachel began to feel called to work with Josiah Venture in one of their newer countries – Germany. Rachel spent the two years after her internship in the Czech Republic finishing her Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from California State University, Long Beach. During this time, she was given the opportunity to study and live in Germany for a whole year. It was during this year that Rachel reached out to the JV team in Germany and in 2018, the summer after she graduated, she joined them as an Extended Summer Intern (ESI). During her time in Germany as an ESI she led the summer intern team and then in the fall worked with a local church plant by working with their youth in a small town in the German state of Saxon-Anhalt. From her experience as an ESI, working with JV in Germany for over six months, Rachel felt that this was the place and position that God was calling her too. She is excited to be joining the movement of God happening among the youth of Central and Eastern Europe by returning to work in the same small town that she was in as an ESI as well as working with JV interns that come to Germany as the Intern Director. Rachel is praying that she can be back in Germany by early 2020.
