Marek Linkesch

Marek grew up in Košice, Slovakia. After being involved in church life since early childhood as a pastor’s kid, he made his personal decision to follow Christ at the age of 12. Soon after that, he began serving in the local church, helping with tech stuff and later on leading a small group with younger boys. His first contact with Josiah Venture was through his uncle Peter Hrubo, who is the country leader for TCKompas (JV Slovakia). In 2007, Marek got personally involved in JV ministry volunteering at English camps. He helped run this evangelistic camp for 6 years as a team member and then 4 years as the main leader in his local church. In this ministry he had a privilege to see God move, change the lives of young campers who then became leaders, sharing the good news with their peers. In 2010, he also started serving at KPM (annual JV conference), where he could use his video talent and technical skill to support the effort of training and equipping youth workers from all over Slovakia.

When he was offered a Videographer position on the JV International Communications Team in the Fall of 2016, he was challenged with a choice to keep the stability of his well-paid engineer job, family, friends and the church he grew up in or move to the Czech Republic pursuing this new path. God let him see the potential impact this work could have on the movement as a whole - not just his local youth group. He moved and began serving in January of 2017. He’s passionate about using talents that God gave him to help fuel the movement. Outside of his daily duties on the C-team, he’s trying to point young people to God through the Fusion choir he’s part of here in Ostrava.
