Anniversaries are important.

Dear Friends,

Anniversaries are important.

They give us a chance to pause, reflect, stop and see the big picture, and - most of all - celebrate! I’d like to invite you to join us this month in one such celebration as KAM rounds the corner into its 10 year anniversary on August 21st.

If you are still getting oriented to JV, you may not even know who KAM is! Josiah Venture is particularly committed to something we call “indigenous empowerment”, which is a fancy word for doing our best to develop ministries that take root and thrive in the national soil of each country.

Because of that, we work to create a non-profit training organization in the countries where we are serving. Each is registered and run according to the laws and customs of that nation, and builds an identity and “face” that reflects the local culture. These national organizations then become “partners” in the joint venture called Josiah Venture.

The first of these organizations was registered in the Czech Republic in 1997 under the name of KAM or Krestanske Akadamie Mladich (Christian Academy of Youth). The acrostic has an interesting twist, since “kam” is the word used in Czech to ask a person where they are going!

The 10 year mark is a real milestone! Two years ago KAM was voted as the “Christian Organization of the Year” in a nationwide poll of Christians. Last year the Czech ecumenical council of churches voted KAM’s T.V. show and evangelistic campaign Exit 316 as the “Event of the Year”.

But most importantly, KAM provides the framework for a team of almost 60 people who are giving the best of their talents and energies to see that the next generation is reached for Christ. Those of you who have given and prayed for this ministry can be sure that you will meet hundreds of souls in heaven who were introduced to of Jesus through the ministry of KAM during these last 10 years.

That’s a good reason to celebrate!
